Henry Andrew Taylor was born in Hurst, Lancashire ("Soldiers Died") His will has his address as 11 Crowthorn Road, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, and his effects to spinster Sylvia Sarah Walker (sister in law). His pension card however gives Sylvia Sarah Walker as the guardian of his son Harry TAYLOR and of School House, Six Mile Bottom, the necessary link with Six Mile Bottom has been found at last. Henry Andrew Taylor was born in Hurst (Ashton under Lyne Q3-1868 8D:473) son of Michael and Edna TAYLOR (née ANDREW). 1871 census...Aged 2, he was at 152 King's Street, Hurst with his father Michael TAYLOR [30] commercial traveller born New Mills, Derbyshire; mother Edna [29] born Ashton under Lyne. 1881 census...Aged 12, he was at Mossley Road, Ashton under Lyne with his father, now a cashier and his step mother Mary [34] born Todmorden, Yorkshire. His mother had died in 1876 and father married Mary Anne HALSTEAD in 1878. 1891 census...Aged 22, he was a draper's assistant lodging at 1 to 13 Angel Street, Sheffield. He married Mary Hannah Elizabeth WALKER in 1894 1901 census...Aged 32, travelling salesman, he was at 52 Northfield Road, Morston, North Manchester with his wife Mary H.E. [30] born Tysoe, Warwickshire. 1911 census...Aged 42, a travelling salesman, he was at Fern Lea, 71 New Moston Lane, Failsworth, Manchester with his wife and son Harry [14-9-1907] born New Moston, Manchester. His wife died on 25th October 1911, and her sister Miss Sylvia Sarah Walker of the School House, Six Mile Bottom, became the guardian for Henry junior. |

He enlisted in London. The 6th King's Own arrived in Gallipoli in July 1915. His death was due to heart failure according to the pension card. |
